Oscar De La Hoya is leaning towards Tyson Fury as the British fighter gets ready for his upcoming rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.
The pair will collide for a second time on December 21, live on DAZN PPV, and victory for Fury will see him become heavyweight champion for a third time.
In their first encounter, Fury went into the contest after finding out his wife had suffered a miscarriage in the days leading to the encounter.
Fury performed admirably considering the circumstances but a disastrous ninth round when he received a standing count flipped the contest into Usyk’s favour before he won on the scorecards.
Utilising his rematch option, Fury is heading straight back into battle with his great rival, and he begins the fight an underdog.
De La Hoya, a former six weight world champion, is a huge admirer of Fury, and he’s backing him to get the job done in another close encounter.
“I think Fury, his head is going to be there for once,” said De La Hoya when speaking to Fight Hub TV.
“We didn’t know what happened, the tragic news that took place, do you know what that does to a fighter? Let’s talk about the heart Tyson has to go in there.
“Anybody would have cancelled. Tyson goes in there and fights Usyk, unbelievable. So, I really see this fight as a 50-50 fight, but I have to give Tyson the edge.”
