Usyk vs Fury 2 DAZN Bet

Here we go again.

The eyes of the entire world will be focused on Saudi Arabia this weekend as Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury duke it out for a second time, live on DAZN pay-per-view.

This will be the richest fight in history in terms of purse money, and there’s a feeling we could be about to witness something special.

The first fight seven months ago was a modern classic - an incredible 12 rounds of back-and-forth action - that was settled on the cards with Usyk eking out a split-decision win.

It was super close, with the (barely) standing count Fury took in round nine - while still just about on his feet - proving decisive.

Usyk will defend his WBA, WBO and WBC and Ring Magazine heavyweight belts here, and it will again likely be a contest of fine margins.

The IBF – in their infinite wisdom - have since elevated Daniel Dubois to title status since that epic first fight in May, so we’re not seeing an undisputed rematch here.

However, what we are seeing in Mr Usyk and Mr Fury are the two best heavyweights on the planet fighting to be recognised as heavyweight overboss of all overbosses.

Usyk comes into this fight as a 4/6 favourite with DAZN Bet, but the money seems to be coming for Fury (13/10 at time of writing) as the unbeaten Ukrainian wizard opened up as a 4/7 jolly with most firms when the betting lines were first published.

Let’s just hope Drake has not had a punt. The Canadian rapper lost a $565,000 bet on Fury to beat Usyk in that first fight, but the big appeal of this rematch is that all results are very much possible (the draw incidentally is a 14/1 shot for those who feel it will be too close to call).

Usyk is a phenomenal fighter, 22-0 (14) with a spellbinding lead hand, astonishing footwork and perpetual head movement that makes him a nightmare to fight.

We know he has got an engine too and this could be the key to victory for anyone who fancies a bet on the champion.

Usyk’s chances of victory increase the longer this fight goes on. He is tried and tested at this level and his cardio is second to none.

The first fight was a thrilling, breathless affair, but Usyk simply bit down on his gumshield when it got tough or offered a sign of the cross to the heavens.

DAZN Bet

There is no denying he finished the fight in the ascendency, and he will take great comfort from that.

A betting favourite going into their first fight, Fury is a 13/10 underdog this time round, but as stated his price is shortening. Back in May, Fury 34-1-1 (24) seemed to be finding a real rhythm between round three and round six.

The fight seemed to change in round eight when Usyk drew blood from Fury’s nose, and Tyson began to lose momentum as he dabbed away at his face thereafter.

Fury’s size and weight are always big talking points. ‘The Gypsy King’ is a giant at 6’9” and the rumours are he is going to be heavier for this.

If he is, then the plan is obviously to get on the front foot and put it on Usyk. All the talk from Fury this week has alluded that is what he is going to do, and Fury to win by KO, TKO or Disqualification is 100/30.

The round betting is interesting, with Fury to win in round 3 for instance a whopping 50/1 shot with DAZN Bet. However, such long odds reflect the fact that no professional prize fighter has been able to solve the Usyk puzzle so far.

There’s huge pressure on both men. Another defeat for Fury and his chance of being remembered as the best of his era will have been and gone, though a consolation prize of a huge all-British dust-up with Anthony Joshua in 2025 might still await.

If Usyk wins, he’s basically completed boxing. Rides off as Olympic champion, undisputed cruiserweight champion and undisputed heavyweight champ having beaten everyone of note.

This would be the perfect finale for him, but as a result there is huge pressure on him too to deliver and protect that ‘0’.

It could come down to who still has the most desire. At 37 and 36, both Usyk and Fury will be aware of the sound of clocks ticking.

And of all the skills a fighter must master, none is as thoroughly mystifying as pain management. Masking hurt in the ring with a poker face – and pushing on when your body is screaming for you to stop - is in the job spec for any all-time great.

Indeed, this could be as much about what state Fury turns up in mentally, as opposed what shape he comes in physically. Ego is as essential to a fighter as a pinpoint jab, and we just don’t know how mentally damaging that loss in May has been to his psyche.

You can’t overstate how good the first fight was. Two more game or gallant fighters never fought for the title. If the second fight is even 80% as good as the first, then the fans will go home happy.

The DAZN News Verdict

As a boxing fan this is everything you always wanted. Whoever controls the pace will win the fight, and you feel logically that a heavier Fury will have to put a dent in Usyk early if he’s going to get the job done.

Fury on the front foot, putting combinations together, gave Usyk real problems in fight one. Yet he spent roughly two thirds of that first fight on the back foot, as the smaller Usyk used educated pressure to get in range and unload.

So Team Fury know they will need to be more aggressive, without being too gung ho. He was 262lbs for the first fight, and on reflection that was probably too light.

Fury’s defence certainly needs to be sharper, as Usyk got through time and time again with that spearing left hand over the top.

Fury in 'war mode' is a sight to behold, and he has the tools to win this fight if he is fully focused and has left no stone unturned in his training camp.

However, Fury acolytes who think he is just going to walk Usyk down and bully in the same way he dealt with Deontay Wilder in their second fight could be in for a shock.

Usyk is infinitely more skilful that Wilder when it comes to the sweet science, and Fury trying to walk him down on Saturday could play right into Usyk’s hands.

For while boxing is a sport as capricious as the Gods of Greek myth, the one constant about Usyk is the fact he is a winner. A fighter who always gets it done.

On a legacy-defining night, we fancy Usyk’s cyclonic flurries and mesmerising footwork to weather the early storm and stamp his class all over proceedings once again by winning on points.
