Oscar De La Hoya crowdsources interest for this possible Jaime Munguia opponentGolden Boy / Cris Esqueda
It'd be a big clash at super middleweight.

Jaime Munguia is more than two months removed from suffering his first pro boxing loss — a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Canelo Alvarez on May 4.

Well, Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya is already hard at work gauging the public's interest in a next opponent for the 27-year-old.

On Monday night, De La Hoya took to his X social media account and asked boxing fans for their thoughts on a possible Munguia vs. Caleb Plant clash.

Both super middleweights suffered a loss to Alvarez, who defeated Plant by 11th-round TKO to become the undisputed super middleweight world champion in November 2021.

Since then, the 32-year-old Plant (22-2, 13 KOs) produced a devastating ninth-round KO of Anthony Dirrell in October 2022, before suffering a unanimous decision defeat to David Benavidez last March.

Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs) had a respectable showing against Alvarez despite being dropped for the first time in his career en route to suffering his only loss.

A possible Munguia-Plant tilt would certainly put the winner within close reach of another world title shot at 168 pounds.
