De La Hoya has had his say on a current fighter.

Oscar De La Hoya has urged Shakur Stevenson to deliver more action despite admitting that he’s a ‘great fighter.’

Stevenson is riding high in the lightweight division and has several options moving forward as he plots his next move after becoming a promotional free agent following a run with Top Rank.

A three-weight world champion and Olympic silver medalist, Stevenson's skills have never been doubted, but the Newark, New Jersey man has received criticism for his fights sometimes being uneventful affairs.

De La Hoya wants Stevenson to do more in the ring, and if he applies himself the way De La Hoya wants, the Golden Boy believes he could become a bigger attraction.

“He needs the confidence to fight. He has to believe in himself to put on a good show and sell seats,” said De La Hoya when speaking to the Club Shay Shay

“That’s the problem he’s having. He’s not selling seats. He’s a great fighter. He’s demanding all this money, and fights aren't being made.”
