After exacting revenge on Robson Conceição to snatch back his WBC junior lightweight title, O'Shaquie Foster didn't waste time letting the boxing world know who he's targeting next.
"I want the winner of [Emanuel] Navarrete and Oscar Valdez," Foster told ESPN's Mark Kriegel moments after scoring the split-decision win over Conceição in their rematch Saturday night.
"You're going to be in Glendale?" Kriegel asked, referring to the Arizona host city of Navarrete-Valdez II on December 7.
"I'm going," Foster shot back. "I'll be there."
Facing the Navarrete-Valdez II winner would present a junior lightweight world title unification bout as Navarrete enters next month's fight holding the WBO championship at 130 pounds.
Navarrete will be looking to do in his rematch with Valdez what Foster just did against Conceição in outpointing his opponent.
When the two originally fought in August 2023, Navarrete produced a lopsided unanimous decision over Valdez also in Glendale, Arizona.
Since then, the busy Navarrete went on to fight Conceição to a majority draw in November before dropping a split decision to Denys Berinchyk for the then-vacant WBO lightweight title in May.
With Foster promising to be in attendance to observe Navarrete-Valdez II, will we see the two-time WBC junior lightweight ruler confront the winner in the ring?
