Paulie Malignaggi was once a fighter who lost his hunger and now he’s seeing the same signs in Canelo Alvarez.
The Mexican star will return to the ring on May 4 when he defends his world super-middleweight titles against Jaime Munguia.
Canelo, a fighter who has pretty much faced the biggest tests in his career, appears to distance himself from a fight with David Benavidez.
A professional for nearly 20 years, Canelo claims he still has plenty of big fights left, but his commitment and desire has been called into question by Malignaggi.
“I see a fighter that is satisfied with his career and satisfied with the money he’s made and the success that he’s had,” said Malignaggi when speaking to ProBox TV.
“I see a fighter that is not as hungry as he was before and not showing the ferocity that he was showing at one time in his career. You can see some of those things dissipating and the desire to go for it.”
