For three years Regis Prograis has felt 'like a ghost', he lost his world titles and all those who had previously mentioned his name vanished.
The road back has not been easy since he lost to Josh Taylor in 2019 and frustration began to build up until he decided to use it as fuel to work day by day in the gym.
Now the landscape has changed.
Thanks to numerous social media posts about not being considered a contender for a number of vacant super lightweight world titles, Prograis will now fight for the WBC crown on November 26 in Carson, California, against Mexican knockout artist Jose Zepeda.
"All the frustration is going to come out that night. Ever since I lost my title I wanted to become champion again, to have that target on my back. For three years I've been working for this fight, but now it's happening. There should be a word to describe the feeling beyond excited," Prograis told DAZN.
This is destiny - everything fell into place - everything fell into place and I was right in the picture. I won't leave a stone unturned, destiny is telling me it's my time."
With the goal set on being a two-time champion, Prograis acknowledged that the fight with Chon excites him and has the potetnail to be a fight of the year contender..
"Chon is very good, he's a good southpaw. I wouldn't like it any other way than facing someone as tough as Zepeda, he's a very good opponent," Prograis continued.
"With this kind of fight there will be no doubt who will be the best in the division, because I think without Josh Taylor the division needs a new figure and I want to be that fighter. After this there will be no debate at 140lbs."
However, Prograis assured that there will be no opportunities for the Mexican-blooded fighter to ruin his quest for world title glory once more. The former champion believe he´s better and more skillful than Ivan Branchyk or Jose Vargas whom Zepeda knocked out in an impressive manner.
"I'm a different beast, I'm very different about everyone. I'm not them."
