Edgar Berlanga is hopeful he can secure a big fight with Canelo Alvarez later this year as he looks to become world champion at super-middleweight.
The Puerto Rican star has long wanted to test himself against one of boxing’s biggest names and there’s a possibility he may get his wish.
Berlanga’s run in boxing so far has been a perfect one as he’s climbed the rankings impressively to knock on the doors of all the leading fighters at 168lbs.
Canelo is the fight he wants most, and he believes he has qualities that the Mexican veteran has never seen before.
“I know he [Canelo] fought big punchers and everybody, but I feel with me, it’s something different,” said Berlanga when speaking to Cigar Talk.
“I’m going to bring something different to the table.”
