Rolly Romero wants boxing to revert back to 15 rounds as he prepares for his next fight.
The American has suffered defeats to Isaac Cruz and Gervonta Davis, both knockouts, but speaking to BoxingScene he reflected on some controversial match-ups in boxing’s past.
He suggested that switching up from the usual 10 or 12 would give boxers more opportunity to stop their opponents, eliminate doubts on the scorecards, and to demonstrate their superiority, if needed, to the judges.
“You prepare for the fight you're going to fight. It all comes down to one thing – balls. If you have balls, the rounds don't matter,” said Romero. “In fact, they should bring back 15-round fights. There would be fewer split decisions and robberies.”
Romero next fights against Manuel Jaimes on September 14, live on DAZN.
