Roy Jones Jr believes that Terence Crawford is the best fighter on the planet, but Naoya Inoue is closing in on him.
Jones Jr, who occupied the top spot on the pound-for-pound list for many years, likes what he sees in both fighters, and it’s the man from Nebraska who just edges out Inoue for now.
Last summer, both Inoue and Crawford performed brilliantly to register outstanding victories in their respective weight classes.
Crawford moved past Errol Spence with ease, and it was also straightforward for Inoue when he took on Stephen Fulton.
"Right now, the pound-for-pound king with the kid [Naoya] Inoue right on his back," said Jones Jr when discussing Crawford on Talksport.
"I'll tell you why, Terence Crawford has been dominating for the last ten years, ain't nobody come close.
"The only reason he didn't get the pound-for-pound title earlier is because no one higher up the ladder would give him the opportunity, but he is definitely now pound-for-pound the king.
"Inoue is fast on his heels because anyone you give Inoue, he destroys."
