Roy Jones Jr and Carl Froch were never close to meeting as professionals as the peak points of both their illustrious careers never crossed.
By the time “The Cobra” had acquired world title status by defeating Jean Pascal in 2008, Jones Jr was on a downward spiral that had saw him lose to the likes of Antonio Tarver, Glen Johnson and Joe Calzaghe.
Froch has not seen combat in over seven years since he famously knocked out George Groves at Wembley Stadium. For Jones, his last outing occurred at the backend of 2020 when he took part in an exhibition contest with Mike Tyson.
Froch has hinted at returning to the ring under exhibition rules and has stated that he was approached a potential fight with Jones Jr. This has prompted a response from the Florida man who’s aimed a video at the former super-middleweight world champion.
“Carl Froch says I’m shot to bits,” said Jones to IFL TV. “Well, okay. But show me, show me that I’m shot to bits,” Jones said. “Show me. I don’t care, show me that I’m shot to bits. Wembley Stadium, live – 80, 100,000, I don’t care. Show me that I’m shot to bits. When you get right, come see me.”
