Ryota Murata is confident of securing victory against Gennadiy Golovkin this weekend. The Japanese superstar faces the toughest test of his career as he aims to unify the middleweight world titles against the Kazakh monster, live on DAZN in multiple regions.
The heavy-handed pair where set to meet just after Christmas last year, but the rise in COVID-19 cases thwarted the bout and it was postponed with April 9th being the new date.
Murata, who has beaten every fighter he’s faced as a pro, enters the bout a significant underdog, but cheered on by his home crowd. The WBA ruler is expecting to remain champion.
“It is an honour to share the ring with the great champion Gennadiy Golovkin,” said Murata when speaking with Japan Forward. “I am extremely pleased to be part of this historic middleweight title unification fight here in Japan. On April 9th, victory will be mine and Japan will have a unified world middleweight champion.”
