'Looking forward to that fight!' - Sam Jones rues Tommy Fury withdrawal from Darren Till fightDAZN

Darren Till would have been the favourite in his bout with Tommy Fury despite his lack of professional boxing experience, with Sam Jones admitting he is "sad" the fight is off.

The pair were due to headline MF & DAZN: X Series 20 this weekend at Manchester's Co-op Live, only for Fury to quit the fight in December and leave Till seeking a new foe.

Now, American Anthony Taylor has stepped into the breach, with the pair due to headline the latest stacked Misfits card, set to be broadcast around the world live on DAZN.

Speaking ahead of the bout, promoter Jones mulls that he would have given the edge to Till even if Fury had remained, and that the replacement bout offers a less "thrilling" option.

"I'm sad the Fury fight didn't happen because I was really looking forward to that fight," he told The Stomping Ground. "I was intrigued by it. Tommy's not a world beater, is he?

"Darren Till has been boxing at the Rotunda now at a really good gym with really good coaches. He's got people like Liam Smith around him.

"I was really interested to see how that fight went. I made Darren Till a favourite, I'm not going to lie. I thought Darren Till could be just too strong and too much of a presence for him.

"That's why I was a bit disappointed that the fight's not going to happen. Anthony Taylor has got a style that's not the most desired.

"I don't want to dig him out too much because he's come in at short notice, but he's not the most thrilling to watch. It will be interesting to see how Darren Till deals with it."
