Undisputed super middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has teased the possibility of facing UFC legend Nate Diaz.
The Mexican is beginning preparations for a fight later this year with numerous names being touted as potential opponents including John Ryder and a rematch with WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.
But one name which has entered the fray is the former UFC fighter Diaz who is looking to make a name for himself in the world of boxing.
This was fuelled by Eddie Hearn's recent appeared on The MMA Hour where he shed light on the talks he has had with the 37-year-old.
"It was just a friendly conversation to say, ‘What are you thinking?’," Hearn said.
“And Nate Diaz’s mindset is, ‘I want to fight Canelo Alvarez.’
“Who knows? It’s very difficult to give Nate Diaz a shot in a Canelo Alvarez fight."
The question was then put to one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters who didn't completely rule out a future meeting with Diaz.
“We never know, right?," Canelo Alvarez told Inside Fighting.
“But right now it’s not in my schedule.
"Not right now. I have goals. Not right now, maybe later, maybe in the future.
“No disrespect or anything, I have goals.”
