Savannah Marshall makes confident prediction ahead of potential Claressa Shields rematch

Savannah Marshall makes confident prediction ahead of potential Claressa Shields rematchDAZN

Former WBO women's middleweight champion Savannah Marshall is confident she can beat Claressa Shields if the two were to meet in a rematch.

The pair finally went head-to-head for the undisputed women's middleweight title last October and it was Shields who emerged victorious via a unanimous decision on what was a historic night for women's boxing.

As is often the case with fights decided by the scorecards, there were calls for a rematch and despite the loss, Marshall claims her popularity has risen as a result of the fight.

"It's a funny scenario because although I got beat, having been beat the position I've got myself in now, the publicity, my stock has risen," Marshall told Sky Sports

When it came to discussing the rematch with Shields, Marshall was adamant that a change in her tactics will put her in a strong winning position.

"There's only me and her who know really how that fight went. Who know what shots were landing, what shots were missing, know what shots hurt. And she knows that was close.

"There were times when I knew she was struggling. There were times even in that fight when I caught her with shots that I wasn't really intending to catch her with.

"Outboxing her with my skill rather than my size and my power, I do believe I can outbox Claressa."
