Shakur Stevenson is one of boxing's most exciting young prospects.
The 23-year-old (15-0, 8 KOs) won bantamweight silver at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and in his professional career so far has already held the WBO featherweight title.
Now, the American is moving up to super-featherweight for world honours at a second weight class, and suggested on The Ak and Barak Show (on DAZN and Sirius XM Fight Nation) that he won't stop there, with the lightweight division evolving into the sport's current hot scene.
However he was quick to add that does not mean he will be moving to 135lb any time soon, as he has plenty of business at super-feather first.
"I ain’t gonna say I’ll jump straight up in weight and fight at 135lb," he told Ak and Barak. "I know there’s more to it than just the moment.
"Everybody says at the moment that division is hot, but as of right now I ain’t saying I’ll move to 135lb as soon as I get a belt.
"I’ll go after Miguel Berchelt, Jojo Diaz, even Tank (Gervonta Davis, who predominantly fights at lightweight now) still has a belt at 130. Is he gonna fight me (for the WBA 130lb belt) or what?"
Stevenson reiterated that he will sidestep no potential opponent, as the hosts mooted the possibility of a mouthwatering showdown between him and fellow prospect Chris Colbert, the current interim WBA super-feather champ.
He said: "I’m willing to fight anybody. I’d fight 'Lil' BHop' next if it came down to it. I respect him but we got history and I know what I’m built with.
"I sparred with him several times. I ain’t gonna disrespect him, but I think there’s levels to boxing and he can’t fought who he just fought and then get into the ring with Shakur. You gotta be on the top of your game to be in the ring with Shakur, or you’ll get iced.
"I’ll be realistic with you. I think I’m one of the most feared young fighters in boxing. I’m not gonna say the most feared, but definitely one of the most feared and it’s proven time and time again."
One boxer Shakur hopes will not evade him is the winner of the WBO super-featherweight title fight between Jamel Herring and Carl Frampton on Feb. 27.
"I am waiting on that fight," continued Stevenson. "I’m waiting to see who wins. Whoever has that belt has gotta give me a shot.
"I think Herring will win, but I don’t think he’ll fight me if he wins. He will vacate it because he said he wants opportunities at 135.
"I ain’t got a clue if that’s because he doesn’t want to fight me or if he can’t make the weight."
