The super middleweight may drop down a class as he chases a world title shot.

Shane Mosley Jr. could fight at 160lbs as he aims for world titles in the near future.

The 31-year-old beat Gabriel Rosado earlier in April at super middleweight but most of his recent fight have come half a stone lighter, and he told the DAZN Boxing Show that he would be prepared to stay at middle as he anticipates the chance to win titles.

He is unsure about who would be his next opponent, saying: “We haven’t talked about any names yet but we definitely got our eyes open.

“I’m not sure if I want to stay at 168 or 160. There seems to be, because of the shifts of some of the fighters moving up, there’s opportunities down. I would be more valuable if I were to be a champion than fighting in the 168 than where I currently am.”

Quizzed about a rematch with Brandon Adams - he lost the first in 2018 - Mosley pointed out that there would have to be a compelling reason to get past the obvious obstacles.

“It’s not something I actually want,” he said of fighting his friend. “He’s at 154, I’m at 160-168, it’s not something that I care to revisit. I’m moving past that, if it comes up and there’s some hype behind it, maybe.

“I’m definitely not going to 154! He should be really close to a world title fight, the only thing stopping him is the [Jermell] Charlo- [Bryan] Castano fight. He could get that unification belt.”

Mosley then explained that he would wait until he was back in training and in around ‘four to six months’ he would consider how the middleweight division looks.

“I think I’ll wait until I get back into the gym and get some names thrown at me,” he confirmed. “I’m swaying more towards 160, there’s opportunity there.

"You’ve got GGG [Gennadiy Golovkin] fighting, if Canelo [Alvarez] fights [Dmitry] Bivol, which can potentially free that up. GGG is 40, who knows how long he has left? That could free up those [IBF and WBA] belts. Demetrius Andrade moving up. [Jermall] Charlo is talking about moving up. That’s a lot of belts.

“With that being said, stay at 168 where all these people are going up like a traffic jam, or move down?”
