David Benavidez enhanced his credentials at 168lbs last month with a dominant win over Demetrius Andrade.
The victory has led many within the sport to call for a 2024 showdown between Benavidez and Canelo Alvarez with that contest almost guaranteed to do big business due to the popularity of the Mexican icon and the threat posed by Benavidez.
Canelo’s next move is still undecided, but he continues to be linked to a fight with Jermall Charlo just months after defeating his brother, Jermell.
As well as Benavidez, Canelo also has options at 175lbs with Dmitry Bivol one possible opponent after he defeated Canelo in 2022.
Shawn Porter, a former world champion at 147lbs, believes that Benavidez is the best fighter at super-middleweight.
“Benavidez is in a class of his own,” said Porter when speaking to KO Artist Sports.
“Me personally, I saw it, but I never accepted it. This fight right here, he just showed that he’s superior to anyone at 168. Nobody can challenge him at 168. Y’all know what that means. He’s a complete package.”
