Rolly Romero is hoping to secure a big fight in 2024, but Shawn Porter doesn't hold high hopes for the Las Vegas man.
After losing to Gervonta Davis in a spirited effort last year, Romero bounced back to become WBA champion against Ismael Barroso but endured a hard night in doing so.
Currently out injured, the next move of Romero is still unknown.
Operating in the talent-laden 140lbs division, Romero will have plenty of options next year if he wants to secure a huge fight, but he may have to contend with Ohara Davies first.
If successful against the Brit, a wealth of opportunities exist including Devin Haney, Teofimo Lopez, and Ryan Garcia.
Despite the possibility of having himself an outstanding year, Porter, a former world champion at 147lbs, believes Romero’s best days have now passed.
“I think Rolly has shown that he can’t really take a punch, his punch resistance is very low after that ‘Tank’ Davis fight,” said Porter when speaking to FightHype.
“I don’t even remember the gentleman’s name that he was in the ring with after that [Barroso], but that guy had him light on his feet a couple of times. I would bet on Ryan and his camp.”
