Shawn Porter believes Manny Pacquiao can have success if he returns to the ring, but he’s advised the legendary fighter to stay away from Jaron Ennis.
Pacquiao is linked to a fight with Marios Barrios with the WBC welterweight title at stake in what would be his first fight since 2021.
Porter, who competed at welterweight during Pacquiao’s time there, is a big admirer of the Filipino and believes he can defeat Barrios.
Ennis, who defeated David Avanesyan earlier this month, could be a future opponent for Pacquiao, and Porter, a former world champion himself, has had his say on the matter.
“As far as that [Barrios] fight goes, I’m at the point where I hate to see some of these guys come back and get in the ring,” said Porter when speaking to Fight Hub TV.
“It’s what they want to do, I really don’t like it. I’m trying to rewrite that narrative, once you’re retired, stay retired, find other things to do.
"I think Pac will come back and I think he will win that fight [against Barrios], but outside of that, Jaron is a fighter you stay away from.”
