Teddy Atlas knows what it takes to operate at the highest level of boxing after overseeing the corners for many great fighters.
Often splitting his time between training and television, Atlas has long been one of boxing’s shrewdest operators, and his opinion has always been highly respected.
Perhaps most famous for his time overseeing the development of a young Mike Tyson, Atlas has also guided many other big-name fighters.
Michael Moorer, Tim Bradley, and Shannon Briggs are just three of many boxers Atlas has assisted, but he credits Wilfred Benitez as being the best talent he worked with.
“Sometimes you go to the Academy Awards and one movie wins all the awards. What are you gonna do? That would be Benitez,” said Atlas when speaking to The Ring.
“Anyone who could beat Roberto Duran, amongst many other great fighters, that’s a pretty good resume. I would say Benitez overall was the package. He was a special fighter.”
