Gervonta "Tank" Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko have expressed mutual interest in fighting each other and such a mega bout would now be a lightweight world championship unification clash.
If the fight comes to fruition, who would be the man with his hand raised in victory?
Teofimo Lopez, who defeated Lomachenko by unanimous decision in October 2020 and sparred with Davis many years prior, is clear on who he would pick and gave a pointed reason why.
"I would say, though, overall 'Tank' and his team are going after that fight because they're following the [Floyd] Mayweather route," Lopez explained to FightHype over the weekend.
"The route is to get them when you know you're going to win the fight. So I'm going to follow the script on that and I believe 'Tank' will win."
Though Lopez believes that Lomachenko has slowed down considerably since they fought nearly four years ago, he believes the 36-year-old boxing legend's technical style will still be "tricky" for even an astute boxer and knockout artist like Davis, the reigning WBA lightweight world titleholder, to figure out.
"I think it's tricky for him with Loma. He is not easy at all," Lopez added.
"[Davis] will never face nobody, whether in sparring or what not, he's never going to face someone like Vasiliy Lomachenko. I promise you that.
"I'm telling you from first-hand [experience] and he'll understand that when he gets in the ring with him."
