Lopez has spoken about one of his rivals.

Teofimo Lopez returns to action this weekend when he defends his world title against Steve Claggett.

The talented New Yorker is looking to register another win before switching his attention to huge fights against the likes of Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia.

One fighter who doesn't figure in Lopez’s plans is Devin Haney following the WBC champion’s recent loss to Garcia.

Haney was dropped three times before losing on points, but the result has since been changed to a No Contest.

"I don't believe Haney is the American dream, I don't believe he is the next Mayweather or any narrative they want to put out there,” said Lopez when speaking to Sky Sports

"I believe Haney is someone who reaches a certain level in life and is going to stay there forever.

"I have already proved [I am a level above Haney] without having to fight him, I don't need to face this guy. He has just lost."
