Terence Crawford’s training preparations for his upcoming clash with Israil Madrimov have been boosted with the arrival of Andre Ward.
Crawford will jump up to 154lbs for the first time in his career when he looks to become world champion against the unbeaten Uzbek fighter in a fight that can be seen live on DAZN, August 3.
Crawford’s leap to super-welterweight comes a year after his stunning display against Errol Spence that saw him become undisputed ruler at 147lbs.
Crawford had been linked to a huge showdown against Canelo Alvarez, but next up is Madrimov.
Ward, who walked away from boxing in 2017 following back-to-back wins against Sergey Kovalev, has long been an admirer of the Nebraska fighter.
His input into Crawford’s training could be vital if he’s to add another world title to his collection.
