Retiring fighter Shawn Porter praised his opponent Terence Crawford after his defeat, calling him ‘the best’.

The pair fought on Saturday night with Crawford’s WBO welterweight belt on the line.

Crawford won by stoppage in the 10th round, and after the fight Porter confirmed that he would be retiring from the sport.

He also gave credit to the performance from the defending champion

“The punches he was catching me with were too clean,” Porter admitted. 

“So, I saw it and felt it, so I just think my timing was off and he wouldn’t allow me to get [into] my rhythm. That was my game plan going in. 

“He’s a dynamite dude in and out of the ring. Congratulations. … He’s the best out of everybody I have been in the ring with.”
