With victory by unanimous decision over her fellow Briton, the Doncaster-born fighter is a world champion once again.

Terri Harper hailed her win over Rhiannon Dixon as "the best one of her career" after she made history with a triumph that sees her become a three-weight world champion.

The Doncaster-born fighter scored a victory by unanimous decision over the WBO female lightweight title holder at Sheffield's Canon Medical Arena on Saturday.

It marked a first career defeat for Dixon, in what was the first defence of the crown she claimed in a battle with Karen Elizabeth Carabajal this April in Manchester.

For Harper, who previously held world titles at light middleweight and super featherweight, it marked a superb career-reviving turn after a loss to Sandy Ryan.

"That's the best one of my career," the Yorkshirewoman said afterwards. "I've become a new fighter mentally and physically.

"There was one point in that fight where I was clocked and I really had to dig deep, but I managed to recover quite quick."

Victory for Harper returns her to the top of the world after just one win in her past three bouts, having also drawn with Cecilia Braekhus last October.

The 27-year-old now holds a 15-2-2 record, and adds the WBO title to the IBO and WBC female super featherweight titles and WBA and IBO female super welterweight wins.
