Fresh off of delivering a punctuating 10th-round knockout of Erik Bazinyan on Friday night, Jaime Munguia didn't hesitate saying he's game to fight any of the following three super middleweights:
Caleb Plant
Plant, a former super middleweight world champion, would certainly give Munguia a stern test at 168 pounds.
Neither man could muster an upset of Canelo Alvarez, however both remain exciting fighters in their own right.
Such a matchup would pit Plant's technically-sound brand of the sweet science against Munguia's boxing-punching style that includes a heavy volume of combinations that tend to thrill.
A scintillating performance against Plant and perhaps Munguia could even land a rematch against Alvarez someday.
Edgar Berlanga
Munguia lost to Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision in May before the face of boxing treated Berlanga to the same exact fate on September 14,
Of course, there's no shame in losing to an all-time boxing legend like Alvarez and if anything, Munguia and Berlanga each put forth solid performances and learned invaluable lessons in each suffering his first pro loss, respectively.
So what better way to show their improvements than a big super middleweight tilt which would reignite the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry.
Of the three opponents that Munguia mentioned Friday night, Plant and Berlanga seemed to be the opponents he's most interested in clashing with next year.
Christian Mbilli
The French fighter is 28-0 with 23 knockouts having last defeated a rugged Sergiy Derevyanchenko by unanimous decision in August.
Munguia said he's up for fighting Mbilli too and having the chance to hand him his first pro loss like he just did with Bazinyan would be an opportunity that the Mexican might relish.
