The Australian and his team will press the WBO for a mandatory chance.

Australian junior middleweight fighter Tim Tszyu believes that he is good enough to secure a title after watching the draw between Jermell Charlo and Brian Castano on Saturday night.

Each fighter had one card in their favour with the third scoring a tie, meaning Charlo kept his IBF, WBA and WBC belts, and Castano retained his WBO title.

Tszyu has been making progress and his representatives may ask the WBO to grant him a mandatory challenge against the 31-year-old Argentine champion

Speaking to Fox Sports, George Rose - Tszyu’s promoter - said: “The draw could turn out to be a good result for us – Tszyu could be next. That was a great fight and you’d be surprised if Charlo wanted to jump straight into a rematch - plus he’ll have the other sanctioning bodies breathing down his neck.

“We’ll talk to Paco at the WBO today about the prospect of making Tszyu mandatory for Castaño’s belt and we’ll be doing everything possible to make that fight happen before the end of the year.”

Charlo is likely to face his IBF mandatory Bakhram Murtazliev next, meaning a rematch against Castano is not imminent.

“I thought Castano won but that fight is over now and I know I have the style to beat him. Like I said, I’m ready when he is and I believe I will stop him – he is tailor-made for me,” Tszyu said.

“As for Charlo, I honestly don’t know if we see him again at super welterweight. It’s a big risk that he will lose again so maybe he’s better off getting out of the division.”

Rose is planning another fight for Tszyu before any title bout.

“We have approached three former world champions and whoever signs on the dotted line first will get the fight,” he said.

“So for now it’s all up to Liam Smith, Tony Harrison and Jack Culcay.”
