Tommy Fury has challenged Deontay Wilder’s brother Marsellos to a fight on their brothers’ undercard.
Tyson Fury will take on Deontay Wilder in July in their trilogy rematch, after the Bronze Bomber won an arbitration decision to evaluate the contract signed between the heavyweight pair.
The result of the decision meant that the proposed fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has been called off, at least for now, and their Saudi Arabia fight this August will now not go ahead.
Speaking to Queensbury Promotions’ The Lowdown broadcast, Fury first praised Daniel Dubois, also promoted by Frank Warren.
Dubois suffered his first career defeat in November 2020 when he elected to take a knee after his eye socket was broken due to repeated jabs to the side of the head from heavyweight challenger Joe Joyce.
The Briton will be back in action on Saturday June 5 against Romania’s Bodgan Dinu, for a chance to win the vacant WBA interim heavyweight title, and wants to get his revenge on Joyce later.
While Dubois attracted criticism from many in the world of boxing, 22-year-old Fury was unwilling to make a comment.
“I wasn’t in Daniel’s position. I’m not in that fight. You can only answer those things when you’ve been in that position yourself,” he said.
“I’m not gonna sit here after five professional fights, all four rounders saying what I would do in that scenario with a broken eye socket.
“I’d like to think I know what I’d do, but when you’re in that scenario it is a different story.
“Health is before wealth and I think Billy Joe Saunders did the right thing and lives to fight another day.
“I think Daniel is going to come back stronger with a knockout and back in the mix for some great fights. He just needs to keep building.
“It is so good to be on the undercard of such a good main event. It is a privilege to be on the card. I’m just looking forward to showing my skills on the night and what I’ve been learning.”
With Fury’s older brother Tyson set to put his WBC belt on the line on July 24 in Las Vegas, Tommy talked up a meeting with Marsellos.
He said: “That fight would make headlines. It would be a privilege to fight on Tyson’s undercard and both of us getting victories.
“I am up for that fight. I am up for anything. I am over here training, in shape so whatever comes I will be ready for.
“I’ll have a piece of him. I called him out before and he never replied.”
