Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 - Tony Bellew makes big prediction for upcoming clash

Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 - Tony Bellew makes big prediction for upcoming clashMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing
Tony Bellew believes Dmitry Bivol can make the necessary adjustments to settle his series with Artur Beterbiev when they meet for a second time next month.

The pair will meet in a huge rematch, live on DAZN , on Feb 22 as part of a huge show that also includes the big world title showdown at heavyweight between Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker.

Last October, Beterbiev became undisputed champion at light-heavyweight with a majority points verdict over his great rival in Saudi Arabia.

Beterbiev overcame a tricky start to take over in the second half and when the championship rounds arrived, he pulled away to take the win.

Despite being credited with victory, Beterbiev will be eager to emphasise his dominance further in the sequel after some believed Bivol had done enough.

Since the result was announced, various members of the boxing industry have demonstrated their dismay at the verdict, with some preferring Bivol’s more skilled approach.

Bellew, a former world title challenger at 175lbs, has spoken about how close he though the first meeting was, but he has given his backing to Bivol as the pair get ready to do it all again.

“I do (think it will be a different outcome) with Bivol winning on points. Once again, I thought the first could have gone either way,” said Bellew when speaking to Casino Utan Spelpaus

“I thought Bivol was the better boxer on the night, but I thought Beterbiev pressed the whole night, and he outpunched him. He just outworked him. And I think them championship rounds in that fight were big.

“I did like Bivol’s boxing, so Bivol has shown us he has the ability. I think he'll learn his lesson from the first fight. But if Beterbiev is successful again, then I think he could take on Jai Opetaia.”
