Tony Bellew explained what he thought was the crucial difference between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou last night.
Joshua defeated Ngnannou with a huge second round knockout in Saudi Arabia on Friday evening, live on DAZN PPV , and his showing was a step up from Tyson Fury’s against the same opponent last October.
As the victor at Knockout Chaos, Joshua is in line to take on the winner of Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk, shown on May 18, also on DAZN PPV .
Bellew, a former cruiserweight world champion, watched the event unfold and speaking on X, formerly known as Twitter, he believes the reason for Joshua’s superiority was simply his expertise in the ring after years as a professional, whereas Ngannou spent of his time in the cage for mixed martial arts events.
He wrote: “Please understand a puncher in boxing is different to a puncher in MMA!
“I have nothing but admiration for Ngannou and believe me he’d do the same to any boxer in a cage!
“BUT he’s not in a cage he’s in a boxing ring and that’s the difference."
