Tony Bellew gives update on potential comeback fight

Tony Bellew gives update on potential comeback fightDAZN
Tony Bellew has teased a return to the ring.

Former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has shut down any possibilty of a return to the ring five years after retiring.

Earlier this year, Bellew teased that he could lace up the gloves once more and called out WBC bridgerweight champion Lukasz Rozanski

However, a fight with Rozanski is now looking unlikely when Bellew gave an update in an interview with iFL TV

“It doesn’t look like it does it? Because Rozanski has more options so… I’d have 100% smashed the granny out of him. Absolutely," Bellew claimed.

"He does not stand a chance against me, I’m sorry. But, you know, it’s been taken out of my hands.”

Bellew also revealed that his family and former promoter Eddie Hearn were against the idea of a comeback fight.

"My once very loyal friend and promoter, Mr Eddie Hearn, I don’t think wants to entertain it. My wife definitely didn’t want to entertain it," Bellew continued

"Mr Rozanski wanted to. We’d had a couple of words between ourselves. He fancied it. But then a brighter option came available to him and I’m sure all will be revealed in due course.”

Bellew last fought in November 2018 when he faced Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed cruiserweight title, but "The Bomber" came up short and was stopped in the eighth round.
