Tyson Fury reveals suffering awful family tragedy on eve of Oleksandr Usyk defeatDAZN

Tyson Fury has revealed that his wife Paris suffered a miscarriage the night before his fight with Oleksandr Usyk, but stresses that it played no part in his defeat to the Ukrainian.

The Briton was handed a first career loss in May when he met his rival for the undisputed heavyweight championship title, conceding his WBC title in the process.

Though accompanied by members of his family and entourage, including father John and brother Tommy, Fury’s spouse was noticeably absent from proceedings in Riyadh.

But ahead of his rematch with Usyk as part of a stacked Riyadh Season card live on DAZN Pay-Per-View this December, the 36-year-old has now revealed that his family suffered an unexpected tragedy on the eve of the bout.

“She lost [the baby] on the Friday of the fight, which was pretty s—t,” he said. “She was six months pregnant. It’s not like a small miscarriage.

“You have to give birth to a dead child on your own while your husband is in a foreign country.

"I could not be there for her in that moment, and that is tough for me.

“When she said she couldn’t come over [on fight week], I knew there was a problem. I asked her to tell me, but she wouldn’t. She never told me she had lost the baby, but I knew.”

Fury did not find out until he returned home from Riyadh following the fight, but says that the uncertainty did not affect his performance and the result against Usyk.

“It’s not an excuse, hell no,” he added. “I am a man of honour. I do what I have to do. I don’t think about that sort of stuff when I am in that fight."
