Tyson Fury reaffirms date for rematch with Deontay WilderDAZN

Tyson Fury repeated Friday that his rematch with Deontay Wilder will take place Feb. 22 in Las Vegas.

Fury made the announcement on ESPN2's "Now or Never" late-night show, adding the qualifier that both boxers would first have to win their respective upcoming fights.

The lineal heavyweight champion made a similar statement in July; he said then that the rematch had been "confirmed and signed." Wilder said in June that a contract for the fight had been signed.

There were calls for a rematch immediately after Fury and Wilder fought to a controversial 12-round split draw last Dec. 1 in Los Angeles. Wilder knocked down Fury twice during the fight; Fury appeared to be out cold after the second knockdown before getting back on his feet. Wilder retained his WBC belt with the draw.

Fury will take on Otto Wallin on Sept. 14 in Las Vegas. Wilder is scheduled to meet Luis Ortiz in late November, also in Vegas, in a rematch of their own.
