Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte moves one step closer as WBC order fightDAZN
A battle between British rivals for the heavyweight crown is set to happen next year.

It appears that Dillian Whyte is finally going to get his WBC title shot against Tyson Fury. The Mexican based governing body have instructed camps of both fighters to negotiate a contest that will do monstrous business in the UK. If a deal can’t be made in 30 days, then the fight will go to purse bids.

Whyte has waited patiently for his world title shot with his first intentions at fighting for the prize going back to Deontay Wilder’s reign as champion. His hopes were thwarted in the summer of 2020 when he was stopped by Alexander Povetkin but a rematch win against the veteran Russian placed Whyte’s plans back on track.

Fury, who became champion by defeating Wilder in February last year, has dismissed the threat of Whyte on several occasions preferring to test himself against the likes of Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. Following the WBC’s instructions, it looks like the second defence of his title will come against the Brixton man.
