LONDON - Tommy Fury opened up the main card for his older brother Tyson Fury's headliner against Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium on Saturday but didn't make too many new fans in the process.
The reality TV star outpointed regional-level Polish fighter Daniel Bocianski, in the latter's UK debut, with the official's scorecard giving the Brit all six rounds for a score of 60-54.
The younger Fury was due to fight YouTuber turned boxer and promoter Jake Paul in December but pulled out late due to injury.
Paul instead KOd Tyron Woodley in the duo's second fight against one another. He will be ringside as his promotional client Amanda Serrano challenges undisputed women's lightweight champion Katie Taylor in seven days at Madison Square Garden. It is set to be the biggest fight in women's boxing history and airs live worldwide on DAZN.
“This type of performance from Tommy Fury… Jake Paul is sitting home laughing," said Tim Bradley Jr. on the US broadcast of the Wembley card.
"God, Tommy is bad," noted Lou DiBella on Twitter.
It remains to be seen whether Tommy is able to revive the bout with Paul, but he continues to be regarded as the overwhelming underdog in such a scenario.
