Former world champion Paulie Malignaggi claims that Mike Tyson will not boost Francis Ngannou's chances when it comes to beating WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
The pair meet in a crossover fight this coming weekend in Saudi Arabia and Ngannou has enlisted the services of Mike Tyson as head trainer in an attempt to give him the best possible chance of getting the upset.
However, Malignaggi was very quick to criticise the link-up and believes the boxing legend is only there to sell the event and will have no bearing on the fight's outcome.
"Mike Tyson will have absolutely no impact on Francis Ngannou whatsoever. Absolutely none," Malignaggi told OLBG.
"Tyson is there as a headline maker, to sell more pay per views. The MMA fans unfortunately are the least intelligent in all of professional sports.
“Because of that, they will think the Mike Tyson situation will make a difference and spur Ngannou on. When in reality, anyone who understands real boxing knows that to use Tyson style you have to be short. The head bobbing that Tyson does, that's not for tall guys."
