Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk: Daniel Dubois' promoter comments on potential next fightsDAZN

Daniel Dubois' promoter Frank Warren believes that boxing's governing bodies will have to order a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

Warren, as well as Dubois and his trainer Don Charles, were certain that the referee chose the wrong decision when he ruled in favour of the incumbent in the fifth round.

Dubois struck Usyk with a powerful right-hander on the waistband, and while there were arguments about the height of both his shorts and the punch, the referee allowed Usyk time to recover from what he ruled to be a low blow.

Ultimately the Briton was unable to take advantage of Usyk's discomfort, and was instead stopped in the ninth as the IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight champion asserted his dominance.

Speaking in the ring after the result, Queensberry Promotions head Warren proclaimed that the blow was legal.

He said: “It hit him on the waistband, I wish they could put it up. That’s all he worked on in camp, working on the body. The referee got it badly wrong. If it was a low blow, why didn’t he take any points off him?"

Warren has been full of praise for Usyk and Ukraine for their efforts against the Russian invasion, but while he again praised Usyk's country, he suggested they would appeal to run it back.

He continued: "We all love Ukraine and what you’re fighting for.

"The governing body will have to do something again and order a rematch.

“[We will] appeal what goes on here, and we’ll see where it goes from here. It’s all about a legitimate punch that stopped him, a punch he’d been working on.”

Asked about a potential undisputed fight with Tyson Fury, Warren concluded: “There’s lots of fights to be made, everyone wants to see unification.

“If Daniel had got the result then it would have been easy to be made, but that was bull****.”
