Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk - Major heavyweight contender ready to replace injured fighter

Tyson Fury is out of the ring until May.

Deontay Wilder’s heavyweight dreams were crushed last December when he was outboxed by Joseph Parker in Saudi Arabia.

Wilder had been hoping to secure a lucrative bout with Anthony Joshua, but his next move is still unconfirmed following the third loss of his career.

Despite the setback, Wilder’s motivation to still be heavyweight champion is still strong and he’s more than willing to step in for Tyson Fury if his injury doesn’t heal for his May 18 showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury withdrew from the February 17 date last week after cutting his eye in sparring and Wilder has made it clear he’s ready to fight.

“I’m ready, I’m always ready for whoever no matter what,” said Wilder when speaking to ESNews

“No matter how much training I’ve got, whether I’m three weeks in or eight weeks in, it doesn’t matter, I’m a fighter. I’m really putting myself up against anyone.”
