Former boxing world champion Ricky Hatton says Tyson Fury's narrow win over Francis Ngannou will be the "kick up the a--e" he needed.
Fury fights Oleksandr Usyk live on DAZN PPV on Saturday night, with the winner becoming the first-ever undisputed world champion of the four-belt era.
In Fury's last fight, he was knocked to the canvas in the third round by former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou, before eventually claiming a split-decision win.
Speaking to Lord Ping, Hatton said that fight will have served as a wake-up call to Fury before he puts his belts on the line in Saudi Arabia this weekend.
"Tyson didn’t take the fight seriously, he came in a little bit heavier than he normally would," said Hatton.
"What happened, happened, and I think that was the best thing that could have happened to him going into this fight with Usyk.
"It would have given him a kick up the a--e, which is what he probably needed."
