The boxing legend is interested in a mixed martial arts debut.

Floyd Mayweather is a legendary name not just in boxing, but in combat sports.

During his 21 years as a professional boxer, Mayweather won world titles in five different weight classes and finished his career with a perfect 50-0 record.

Since retiring, Mayweather has been involved in a number of exhibition bouts and has also expressed an interest in starting a career in mixed martial arts.

Mayweather has already fought one UFC superstar in Conor McGregor who he beat with a tenth round stoppage seven years ago, and seeing MMA stars lace up the gloves is something current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones would love to see continue.

However, when it comes to boxers facing MMA fighters inside the cage, Jones had a warning for Mayweather and other boxers who are considering the switch.

"I would like it if we kept it to MMA fighters trying out boxing. I think it’s a lot safer for an MMA fighter to try out boxing," Jones told SNY

"If you get a boxer inside the octagon, there’s so many elements that they’re unfamiliar with: the head kicking, the body kicking and the choking and the arm-bending, ankle-twisting, and all that.

“It’s a lot, and it can be really dangerous for Floyd [Mayweather] to join an MMA match. So, I would strongly suggest he reconsider.”

While Jones has not stepped into the world of boxing, former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has fought in two professional bouts against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, however, Ngannou lost on both occasions.

Now the Cameroonian returns to MMA for the first time in two years when he makes his PFL debut against Renan Ferreira on October 19 live on DAZN
