Mauricio Sulaiman had some words of advice for Tyson Fury in the aftermath of his win over Deontay Wilder.

Tyson Fury has been advised to take some time away from the sport following his gruelling win over Deontay Wilder.

Mauricio Sulaiman, the WBC President, was impressed with last weekend’s heavyweight title fight but his immediate concerns have switched to Fury rather than securing the champion’s next belt defence.

With Dillian Whyte waiting patiently for his shot at Fury, talks for a potential showdown between the British pair depend on Whyte’s fight with Otto Wallin on October 30th.

If successful, “The Bodysnatcher” will heap pressure on Sulaiman and the WBC to finally agree a showdown between him and Fury.

"Right now, we're going to let Fury rest,” said Sulaiman when speaking to DAZN News. I don't like to bombard the champion with the obligations. We're going to wait a few weeks because it was a very special fight.

“He was given the opportunity to negotiate the fight with (Oleksandr) Usyk and he has a month to do it. If not, he will have to make the mandatory, but I think it is important to let him rest and celebrate and enjoy the win."
