'We hate each other' - George Kambosos Jr. welcomes rematch against Teofimo Lopez with surprise stipulation

'We hate each other' - George Kambosos Jr. welcomes rematch against Teofimo Lopez with surprise stipulationDAZN

George Kambosos Jr. is open to the idea of facing former undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez for a second time.

The pair clashed for the IBF, WBA and WBO lightweight titles three years ago with Kambosos upsetting the odds with a split decision win over Lopez in New York.

The contest was a fitting climax to what was a heated fight week which saw the camps clash on numerous occasions.

The win was Kambosos' best performance to date with the Australian managing to knock down Lopez in the opening round, before he found himself on the canvas in the tenth. Come the final bell, the Australian had done enough to get the victory on two of the judges' scorecards.

Since that encounter, Kambosos has gone on to challenge Devin Haney for undisputed honours and face Vasiliy Lomachenko. After losing to both men, he is now starting a new chapter at super lightweight.

While Kambosos is eager to be challenging for world titles once again, a second meeting with Lopez is one that fires him up and when speaking about it on the DAZN's Ariel x Ade: Boxing Show, he insisted that it would be bare knuckle fight if the two were to cross paths again.

"If he wants to try and get that win back, you’ve got to come and see where I am," Kambosos said.

"Come and feel that hostile territory, it makes sense, for me no problem, I’ll fight him anytime.

"We hate each other, there is no love there at all. There’s bad blood and if he walked right now outside of my gym or tried to come into my gym, it’d be bare knuckle.

"My father can go at his father as well. We’ve already beat them 2-0."
