What next for Daniel Jacobs and John Ryder?

What next for Daniel Jacobs and John Ryder?DAZN
Tony Bellew discussed the future of both men on The DAZN Boxing Show.

Following his points loss to John Ryder on Saturday night, the future looks uncertain for former world champion Danny Jacobs.

At the age of 35, there is not much time left in Jacobs' boxing career with retirement now looking like a real possibility.

In the eyes of the former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew, he believes the American should hang up the gloves for good.

"Father time waits for no one," Bellew said on The DAZN Boxing Show

"He’s been a really good fighter, he’s got an excellent pedigree and resume behind him, but I’ve always said this, boxing and fighting is a young man’s sport.

"Believe you and me it does not favour the older ones that stay around.

"Don’t expect Jacobs to regain the form we’ve once seen anytime soon, I’m going to be honest, he’s not going to see it again.

"He’s seen his best years and I feel now is the best time for him personally to walk away and that’s something he’s got to be happy and content with.

"I know he’s chasing this Hall of Fame dream, not every fighter is cut out to be in the Hall of Fame, not every world champion is good enough to be in the Hall of Fame."

When it came to discussing Ryder's future, Bellew now wants to see his fellow Brit secure the 'big' fight he craves, but he also questioned the views from some fans who felt Ryder deserved to have the points win after past losses.

"Now I want to see John Ryder get that big fight," Bellew stated.

"I didn’t like hearing from other people in the boxing community saying ‘Oh well John Ryder’s been robbed this time, he’s been robbed that time’.

"Does it make it okay to rob someone else on behalf of him?"
