Where does Ryan Garcia go after Gervonta Davis loss? Potential opponents for Garcia's comeback

Where does Ryan Garcia go after Gervonta Davis loss? Potential opponents for Garcia's comebackDAZN

Ryan Garcia is in rebuild mode following his stoppage loss to Gervonta Davis and it appears that his future could be at 140lbs.

Here, DAZN looks at the possibilities for Garcia as he looks to get back to winnings ways.

Josh Taylor

The Scottish fighter is currently WBO champion at super-lightweight and he has a difficult assignment against Teofimo Lopez in June.

Victory for Taylor there will ensure he remains the best fighter at 140lbs and if Garcia wants to jump in at the deep end and test himself against the very best then Taylor could be the direction he heads in.

Just a few years ago, it appeared that Garcia and Lopez would be two names that would dominate boxing but now it looks like the pair are trying to save their top-level careers.

Lopez has struggled in recent years with a shocking loss to George Kambosos impacting his confidence. A win over Taylor this summer will put him back on top and then he could be a fighter who appeals massively to Garcia.

Regis Prograis

After losing narrowly to Taylor in 2019, Regis Prograis has been on a mission to prove himself as the world’s best fighter at super-lightweight.

Prograis is eager for a huge fight and if a contest with Garcia could be made, it’d be the ideal fight for each man to show who has responded better from their setbacks.

Sandor Martin

Perhaps a safer option for Garcia to build himself back up is a test against Spain’s Sandor Martin.

In 2021, Martin caused a massive shock when he defeated Mikey Garcia. The following year, Martin pushed Lopez close, and he could be seen as the ideal candidate to give Garcia a much-needed confidence boost as well as being a solid win.
