Josh Warrington challenges for world honours on Saturday night.

Josh Warrington is at a crossroads in his 14 years as a professional boxer come Saturday night when he faces domestic rival and WBA world featherweight champion Leigh Wood in Sheffield.

For Warrington, this is a chance to become a three-time world champion, and if he emerges victorious, he will once again be looking to make the big fight in the States which he has desired throughout his career.

However, if Warrington is unable to get his hand raised in the Steel City, then this could potentially be the end of the road when it comes to challenging the top names.

What is Josh Warrington's professional record?

Josh Warrington boasts a 31-2-1 record with eight of those wins coming by way of knockout.

Championships

Josh Warrington has held a number of titles throughout his career and they have all been at featherweight.

His first major title success came in 2012 when he beat Chris Male to become the British featherweight and this was followed by claiming the vacant Commonwealth title a year later.

Warrington's first world honour came on a night to remember at Elland Road in 2018 when he beat Lee Selby in front of a raucous atmosphere to become the IBF featherweight champion.

A number of defences followed before vacating the belt in early 2021, but that would not be the end of Warrington's world title success after he became a two-time world champion with a thrilling win over Kiko Martinez last year.

For Josh Warrington, his first world title success was akin to something from a fairytale.

He finally got the big night he craved at Elland Road, the home of his beloved Leeds United, when he faced IBF world featherweight champion Lee Selby.

Warrington would triumph with a split decision win to claim the belt after he drew Selby into a dogfight which saw Selby suffer two damaging cuts after two accidental head clashes.

After two frustrating performances against Mauricio Lara, Josh Warrington was afforded the chance to become a two-time world champion when he faced Spanish veteran Kiko Martinez who held the IBF 126lb title.

Martinez and Warrington had previous history when the latter beat the Spaniard in 2017, and now the two renwed their rivalry with a huge prize at stake.

As has come to be expected with Warrington fights, it was a brutal affair, with the "Leeds Warrior" immediately jumping on the front foot and knocking down Martinez in the first.

Martinez was eventually stopped by Warrington in the seventh to win back the IBF title, but this came at a cost with the British fighter suffering a broken jaw in the process.
