The DAZN Boxing Show discussed Gennadiy Golovkin’s future after his defeat to Canelo Alvarez at the weekend.

The pair drew their trilogy to a rematch in Las Vegas, with Canelo winning on a unanimous decision, with many observers believing the scorecards to flatter Golovkin.

At 40, many anticipated the Kazakh would now retire but for now he seems keen to carry on.

Speaking on the DAZN Boxing Show, Barak Bess believes Golovkin was a faded force.

“We saw a younger guy beat up an older guy, who could not pull the trigger, could not counter the faster fighter who was able to counter GGG,” he began.

“It’s not like Canelo did something different from what he normally does, or different from [their] first fight.

“GGG did try to rally, did try to let his hands go, and he got met with a lot of punches. It looks like he couldn’t take Canelo’s shots. That looks like a different GGG from 2018. From 2018, this is not the same GGG.

“GGG is old, I’m sorry.”

Bess continued, explaining there is still an audience for the unified middleweight champion.

“There are other fighters I would like to see him against. He has belts, two major belts at 160lb, why not see who he can defend them against?” he asked.

“Does it seem like he can beat other top fighters? I don't know. I’d like to see him against any of those guys at 160 at the top.”
