Who should Savannah Marshall face next and why it shouldn't be Claressa Shields

After Savannah Marshall became the undisputed women's super middleweight champion this past weekend with a win over Franchon Crews-Dezurn, it looked like the next logical step would be a rematch with Claressa Shields.

Shields and Marshall fought for the first time as professionals last October in a fight which the American dominated, and won on the judges' scorecards.

The self proclaimed 'GWOAT' was ringside for Marshall's success in Manchester and the two engaged in a heated exchange at the post fight press conference.

However, in the eyes of Ak and Barak, hosts of The DAZN Boxing Show, Marshall should avoid Shields and instead face a different American challenger.

"I’m not thinking about no other opponent than Shadasia Green for this one," Ak began.

"She actually put out a post on Instagram and said, ‘I’m next’, is that the fight you want to see over a rematch with Claressa Shields?"

Barak then responded with the following, "That is Shadasia’s weight class 168lbs, she is the interim WBC champion, it only makes sense.

"Then that would even make the fight with Claressa Shields even bigger.

"If Savannah Marshall can beat someone like Shadasia Green, then that would make it better for Claressa, or if Shadasia Green beats Savannah Marshall, that’s an even bigger fight because she’s someone Shields has not fought before.

"Fight Shadasia Green Savannah Marshall, the winner gets to fight Claressa Shields."
