<p>Joseph "JoJo" Diaz Jr. fought for the first time this year when he took on Jesus "Ricky" Perez.</p>

<p>The former junior lightweight champion won his last bout against Jerry Perez back in the summer of last year, and a win would have put him in the frame for another title shot, this time at super lightweight.</p>

<p>However it was Perez who emerged victorious, winning by split decision.</p>
