Will Dereck Chisora vs. Joseph Parker get cancelled? Bizarre row over ringwalks threatens heavyweight main event

Dereck Chisora's reputation for outrageous behaviour at weigh-ins and press conferences before and after fights precedes him. However, there could be a strange new addition to that 'collection'.

The weigh-in for his heavyweight showdown with Joseph Parker seemed to go without incident, as the two stepped onto the scales and received their official readings. However, Chisora admitted to Sky Sports afterwards that he may abandon the fight altogether if he does not get to make his ringwalk second after the New Zealander is already in the ring.

"We are arguing," Chisora said. "They want a coin flip for who comes into the ring first and second. I said no. I'm not doing that.

"Either I come in second, or I'll go home right now! I'm not in a good mood."

This came after a report that the aforementioned coin flip had already taken place, and Parker had won.

Chisora's manager David Haye then told Matchroom Boxing's live weigh-in coverage that his fighter could indeed walk out on the show if he doesn't get to make the final entrance. Parker, a former WBO heavyweight champion, was not interested.

"It's just more drama," Parker said.

It seems highly unlikely Chisora would be able to scupper a highly-publicised main event, which airs on DAZN in most parts of the world but will cost a PPV fee in the two fighters' respective home countries, without severe consequences.

However if the bout were to fall through, it's likely undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor vs. Natasha Jonas could very seamlessly slot into the headline spot at short notice, given their engrossing backstory dating back to London 2012.
